President John Dramani Mahama has called on leaders at every level of Ghanaian society to uphold justice, humility, and spiritual accountability, asserting that leadership must be rooted in honesty and the reverence of God.

Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, President emphasized that, “Even the Office of the President, which, by the grace of God, I now hold, is not above the law. Leadership must be grounded in justice, in honesty, and the reverence of God.”

President Mahama pushed back against increasing political polarization and division, suggesting that the nation’s greatness must be redefined through virtue rather than power.

“If we want a just Ghana, we must be just in leadership. A nation’s greatness is not measured by the heights of its skyscrapers or the size of its budgets. The values of its people are the true measure of a nation’s greatness.”

Emphasizing the role of faith in preserving peace and unity, President Mahama expressed profound gratitude to Ghana’s Christian community for its continued intercession on behalf of the nation.

“Our peace is not simply the product of sound policy or political will. It is the result of prayer. It is the fruit of faithful believers who have persistently interceded for the soul of our nation.”

He extended thanks to religious institutions including the Assemblies of God, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, and every other Christian fellowship.
