Trump - Musk feud: Tesla, SpaceX face support cut threats from government

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to cut off support that Elon Musk’s companies receive from the federal government, as their worldviews gradually digress from what was once a unified agreement to ‘make America great again’

Reports indicate that Elon Musk’s companies receive billions of dollars in subsidies to keep supply provision afloat. These subsidies have also helped his companies grow, develop new technologies, and become competitive in industries that are capital-intensive and high-risk.

The feud between the two, which has seen them banter on their respective social media platforms was reignited on Monday when Musk, who spent hundreds of millions on Trump’s re-election, renewed his criticism of Trump’s tax-cut and spending bill, which would eliminate subsidies for electric vehicle purchases that have benefited Tesla, the leading U.S. EV maker.

President Trump, however on his social media platform, Truth Social revealed that Elon Musk was highly aware of Trump’s position on Electric Vehicles noting his stance as a major part of his campaign.

“Elon may get more subsidies than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.” he stated in a recent post after the feud resurfaced.
