The Electoral Commission’s decision to conduct a parliamentary rerun in 19 polling stations with the Ablekuma North Constituency has sparked widespread discussions among the public, particularly among constituents, who, more than seven months after December 7, 2024, Elections, are still without a representative in parliament.

A visit by the media to Odorkor and its surrounding areas in the constituency, following the Electoral Commission’s announcement, revealed several issues, notable among them is how deeply some constituents have been yearning for a resolution to the ongoing impasse over the rightful winner.

In an interview with the media, some of the residents welcomed the Electoral Commission’s decision, describing it as ‘necessary

According to them, the delay stems from both parties’ disagreement over the collation and declaration of result.

They appealed for security support from law enforcement agencies, believing it would help ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process.

Conversely, other individuals also expressed the view that the rerun is unnecessary, citing the Electoral Commission’s earlier declaration of Nana Akua Afriyie, the NPP Parliamentary candidate, as the winner.

They however questioned the commission’s motive behind reversing its position and ordering a rerun.
