The Ministry of Health has officially inaugurated a new 13-member governing board and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the National Ambulance Service (NAS), marking a pivotal moment in Ghana’s emergency healthcare landscape.
The ceremony, held at the Ministry’s conference room in Accra, was presided over by Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, who expressed confidence in the board’s ability to support NAS management and elevate emergency care services nationwide.
“It is my fervent hope that the Board would provide all the necessary support to the Management of NAS to work together efficiently and effectively to improve the emergency care services in the country,”.
The newly appointed CEO, Dr. George Kojo Owusu, delivered an acceptance speech on behalf of the staff, thanking President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Health for the trust placed in the board and management team.
He pledged to uphold the mission of NAS and drive innovation in pre-hospital emergency care.
Since its inception in 2004 with just seven stations across three regions, NAS has expanded to 297 stations nationwide, covering all 275 constituencies by the end of 2020.
