University of Ghana lifts social gathering restrictions on campus

University of Ghana lifts social gathering restrictions on campus

The Office of Student Affairs at the University of Ghana has announced a lift of a restriction placed on social gatherings within the campus due to the resurgence of COVID-19 within the institution.

The University of Ghana, as of June 23rd 2025, confirmed a number of contractions of COVID-19 within the University community.

The University in a statement released on Monday, July 14, 2025 indicated that there were initial talks between the the University Health Services, the University Management and the office of the Student Affairs to raise the ban which included gatherings of the Student Representative Council (SRC), Junior Common Room(JCR), Religious Groups, Departmental and School Associations.

“The Office of the Student Affairs in consultation with the University Health Services and University Management wishes to inform the entire university community that the restriction on social gatherings on the University of Ghana campus due to the resurgence of COVID-19 has been lifted with immediate effect.” parts of the statement read.

The University of Ghana, however cautions all students to strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocols during gatherings.
