One week after the passing of Ernest Yaw Kumi, Member of Parliament for Akwatia, NPP Youth Movement in the constituency have organized a solemn walk and candlelight vigil in his honour.

Dubbed “Se Asa” — meaning “It’s finished” — the youth-led procession moved through the main streets of Akwatia and Boadu in the Eastern Region, drawing scores of participants, including NPP faithful, members of other political parties, and sympathizers from the wider community.

Tears flowed and emotions ran high as mourners walked from Akwatia to Boadu and back, ending the procession at the Akwatia NPP party office, where they held prayers for the late MP.

Throughout the night, speakers took turns to remember Ernest Yaw Kumi’s legacy. Youth leaders and political figures who spoke to the media expressed their grief and described the MP as a selfless leader who dedicated his life to the service of his people.

“Ernest wasn’t just our MP — he was a brother, a mentor, and a friend. His absence has left a huge void in Akwatia. We only wish he were still with us.”

The vigil closed with a candlelight display, chants, and gospel songs that echoed into the night — a final farewell to a man many hailed as a rising star in Ghana’s political landscape.
