Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has denied allegations that he attempted to influence the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) plans to hold early primaries or postpone its upcoming National Delegates Conference scheduled for July 19, 2025.
His response follows media reports suggesting that he sought to overturn the party’s decision on the early primaries and delay the critical conference.
In a statement released on Monday, July 14, his office described the allegations as entirely unfounded.
“President Akufo-Addo, who has been out of the country, has made no such request neither through a petition nor any other form of communication and harbors no intention to interfere with the process,” the statement read.
It further condemned the reports as misleading, asserting that “the individuals spreading these claims have their own agenda, which is not aligned with the interests of the New Patriotic Party.”
Meanwhile, the NPP confirmed that the National Delegates Conference will proceed on July 19.
