The Government of Ghana has issued a directive mandating the registration of all machinery used in mining activities with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) by Thursday, August 1, 2025, as part of broader reforms aimed at sanitizing the mining sector.
In a statement issued by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak on Tuesday, July 15, any mining equipment that remains unregistered after the stated deadline will be confiscated by the State.
The Ghana Police Service and the DVLA have been instructed to strictly enforce the directive beginning Friday, August 2, 2025.
The Ministry further advised all individuals and companies involved in mining operations to take note of the directive and ensure compliance to avoid sanctions.
The move he stated forms part of government’s commitment to internal security and the maintenance of law and order, particularly within the natural resources sector.
