Theophilus Berchie, 26, has been appointed to the governing board of the Ghana Hydrological Authority (GHA).

His selection not only marks a personal milestone but also sets a national precedent, making him the youngest board member serving in any government institution across Ghana today.

A multi-talented scholar, Theophilus holds a BSc in Environmental Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he is currently pursuing his MPhil in the same field.

He also earned an LLB from KAAF University College, reinforcing his ability to navigate both scientific and legal landscapes with ease.

His leadership journey began in academia, notably serving as President of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) at KNUST, an experience that deepened his passion for youth engagement and public service.

Now joining the Ghana Hydrological Authority Board at a time when climate resilience and flood management are urgent national concerns.

Theophilus brings a much-needed infusion of youthful insight and interdisciplinary expertise.

“This is not just about me,” Theophilus shared. “It’s a testament to the belief that young people can lead with purpose and vision when given the chance.”

With his new role, he aims to inspire more young Ghanaians to actively participate in governance and help craft innovative, future-ready solutions for environmental and infrastructural challenges.
