Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has revealed that it took more than three months of extensive consultations to consolidate over 300 proposals into the 56 motions currently under debate at the New Patriotic Party’s National Delegates Conference.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Oppong Nkrumah explained that the party’s Constitutional Amendment Committee carried out a rigorous and inclusive process involving focus group discussions and stakeholder engagement.

“We didn’t throw any proposal away,” he emphasized. “We grouped similar ones and worked closely with the proposers to craft a unified motion that represents everyone’s view.”

He disclosed that in some cases, the committee received up to 20 similar proposals on a single issue, requiring careful harmonization to avoid duplication while ensuring fairness and inclusivity.

Oppong Nkrumah noted that the process was a clear reflection of the NPP’s commitment to grassroots participation and internal reform.

Over 5,500 delegates have convened at the National Delegates Conference, being held under the theme “Rebuilding Together with Our Values.” The conference seeks to chart a new path forward for the party following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Planning Committee Chairman, Joseph Osei Owusu, confirmed that the 56 motions capture a broad consensus between party leadership and the grassroots. Each motion will be presented, seconded, and voted on as the party prepares to reshape its future direction.
