Police in Baatsona, Greater Accra Region, have arrested a man identified as Nisar Khan, an Indian national, for alleged sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl.
According to preliminary police reports, the suspect, who claimed to be a quality control specialist, had reportedly developed a relationship of trust with the girl’s family under the guise of offering support. He is alleged to have asked the child to assist him with errands at a guest house where he was staying.
Staff at the guest house told authorities that Mr. Khan checked in with the child on Friday, July 18, 2025. Their suspicions reportedly grew after noticing unusual interactions and hearing distressing noises from his room on Wednesday, July 23.
Guest house employees say they intervened and alerted the police after discovering the child in the room with the suspect under questionable circumstances. Surveillance footage, which is now in police custody, is said to support parts of the incident timeline.
Mr. Khan was subsequently arrested and handed over to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service. He is currently assisting with ongoing investigations.
The minor was taken to the Police Hospital for medical examination. Medical reports confirm the child has been defiled and sodomized.
Authorities have assured the public that the matter is being treated with urgency and sensitivity. Police have urged the public to avoid speculation, as investigations are still ongoing.
