In celebration of World Public Relations Day (WPRD) Festival 2025, Global Media Alliance (GMA), in collaboration with Africa’s leading music streaming platform Boomplay and Ghana’s number one youth radio YFM, has announced the expansion of the official WPRD Festival Playlist into a continent-wide musical showcase.

This marks a significant evolution of the playlist, originally launched to spotlight Ghanaian music, now celebrating the full spectrum of African sound and storytelling through three curated collections: Ghana Edition, New Gen, and Africa-Wide.

With this year’s theme, “Africa’s Sound. PR’s Voice,” the playlist pays tribute to the shared power of music and public relations in shaping culture, building identities, and amplifying voices. Available exclusively on Boomplay and on YFM, the playlist forms a central part of the 2025 WPRD Festival experience.

“Music is one of the most powerful tools for communication and culture. Partnering with Boomplay for WPRD Festival 2025 helps us celebrate PR’s role in amplifying voices, driving narratives, and building reputations — just like music does,” said Ekow Quandzie, Curator of WPRD Festival and Head of PR at Global Media Alliance.

Ghana Edition: Icons of Ghanaian Sound
The Ghana Edition of the playlist is a vibrant celebration of some of the nation’s most beloved and influential musicians. It features chart-topping artists like King Promise, Black Sherif, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy, whose music continues to resonate beyond Ghana’s borders. The playlist also includes global sensation Amaarae, the soulful Gyakie, and afrobeats stars KiDi and Dope Nation. Gospel music is represented by the inspirational Joe Mettle, while Wendy Shay adds her distinctive voice and pop appeal to round out the list.

New Gen: The Future of African Music
The New Gen selection showcases the exciting wave of emerging talents redefining Africa’s sound. It includes breakout stars like Olivetheboy, Arathejay, and Kojo Blak, alongside genre-defying collectives such as SuperJazzClub and 99 Phaces. Gospel ensemble Team Eternity Ghana brings a spiritual dimension to the mix, while voices like Darkua, Anabel Rose, Nana Yaw Ofori Atta, and Baaba J represent the diverse and dynamic future of music in Ghana and beyond.

Africa Edition: A Continental Celebration
The Africa-wide playlist is a true soundscape of the continent, bringing together legendary hitmakers and fresh innovators from across Africa. From Nigeria, it features global icons like Davido, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr. Ghana is represented by Black Sherif, Sarkodie, and the genre-bending Moliy. East Africa’s vibrant music scene comes alive with Tanzanian stars Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, Marioo, and Mbosso, as well as Kenya’s Bien. Southern Africa is represented by Tyla, Nasty C, Cassper Nyovest, and the influential DJ Maphorisa. The list also includes Fally Ipupa from the DRC, Sabrina from Cameroon, Yo Maps from Zambia, JZyNo from Liberia, and Hiram from Zimbabwe.

“From Accra to Lagos, Nairobi to Johannesburg, African music is a global force. The WPRD Playlist connects that force to PR’s purpose: elevating messages that matter,” said (Name and Title) at Boomplay.

The expanded WPRD Festival Playlist is more than a musical compilation — it is a storytelling platform that embodies the core of public relations: amplifying voices, connecting people, and shaping narratives. It also reflects the role of African creatives in defining global culture through rhythm, lyrics, and identity.

Now streaming on Boomplay and premiering on YFM, the WPRD Festival 2025 Playlist invites audiences across the world to discover, vibe, and celebrate the rich tapestry of Africa’s sound.
