Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed profound sorrow following the passing of iconic Ghanaian highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

In a heartfelt tribute, the President described Daddy Lumba as not only a cherished personal friend but also a national treasure whose music shaped Ghana’s cultural and political landscape.

“With regret, I have received the sad news of the passing of my dear friend and renowned music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu,” President Akufo-Addo stated.

“Daddy Lumba, as we affectionately called him, was a pantheon among musical greats and shared an extraordinary connection with his fans and the entire nation.”

The former President acknowledged Daddy Lumba’s immense influence beyond the entertainment world, noting that many of his chart-topping hits became anthems for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and personal motivators during his presidential campaigns.

“His hit-making songs remain lasting contributions to my presidential journey and are forever etched in the annals of the New Patriotic Party’s political campaigns. He will be sorely missed.”

President Akufo-Addo concluded his tribute with a solemn prayer, commending Daddy Lumba to eternal rest:

“May he peacefully rest in the Bosom of the Almighty until the Last Day of the Resurrection, when we shall all meet again.”

Tributes have continued to pour in from across the country, as fans, colleagues, and public figures honor the life and legacy of one of the nation’s most beloved artists.
