The Universal Friendship Organisation (UFO) condemns the ongoing violence in Bawku, citing a humanitarian emergency with over 300 lives lost since November 2021.

The UFO is urging national intervention, enhanced border security, and increased support for security forces to restore peace. UFO criticises prominent peace-building institutions for their silence and perceived inaction, eroding public trust and credibility.¹

According to the president, Mr. Samuel Adobah, innocent civilians, including children, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities, are at risk due to the conflict.

It is disappointing that prominent peace-building institutions and leaders have failed to address the crisis with the urgency and commitment it deserves.

Mr. Adobah said, they acknowledge government efforts to restore calm. The absence of strong and consistent support from civil society and peace building organizations, he says, remains a major gap.

The UFO stands in solidarity with the people of Bawku. We reiterate our call for an immediate end to the violence and a return to peace, dignity and development – he added

Mr Adobah has thus urged all actors to place humanity above politics and to join hands in the spirit of unity and reconciliation.
