President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled a bold plan to transform the Volta Region into a major hub for food production and agro-processing. He says the initiative will drive job creation and stimulate economic growth.

Addressing the Volta Regional House of Chiefs at the Jubilee House in Accra, President Mahama outlined government’s strategy under the Feed Ghana project, aimed at increasing food production and boosting exports.

The President also announced plans to invest in a 200-hectare oil palm plantation in the region. He explained that the move seeks to expand and diversify the agriculture sector, leveraging the existing Volta Palm Project and similar ventures across the country.

President Mahama thanked the chiefs for their visit, describing it as a mark of support and appreciation for government’s development efforts in the region. The chiefs called on the President to commend him for winning the December elections and to acknowledge ongoing infrastructure projects.

The President assured the traditional leaders of his government’s commitment to further develop the region. He also promised that Volta would benefit from government’s broader plan to construct key markets across the country.

“We are not just growing crops—we are building an economy. Volta will become a powerhouse for food and jobs,” President Mahama said.
