Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has extended his heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Environment Science and Technology Alhaji Dr. Murtala Ibrahim Mohammed and six others.

In a condolence message shared on his official Facebook page, Former President Nana Addo wrote” I have spoken and extended my deepest condolences to the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama and to Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairman of the ND”.

He sympathized with families of the bereaved and the Ghana Armed Forces.

“I condole with our gallant men of the Ghana Airforce at this concerning time and salute their indispensable role in the public life of our country and extend further, my condolences to the bereaved families. May they find peaceful rest in the Bosom of the Almighty, until the Last Day of the Resurrection, when we shall all meet again”.

Meanwhile, 2024 NPP presidential candidate and Ghana’s Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, also in a Facebook post extended his condolences.

He stated, “the fallen men paid the ultimate price in the service of our motherland leaving a shocked nation in pain.

“I know most of the deceased personally and equally feel a sense of loss to see their demise under such horrid circumstances. Samira, I, the Bawumia family, and the NPP join the nation in mourning them. May the good Lord grant the bereaved families, the Government and people of Ghana strength and healing in this time of tragedy”.

The Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter was en route from Accra to Obuasi when it went down in the Adansi-Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday .

All eight persons onboard perished, including National Security official Muniru Mohammed Limuna, NDC National Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Former Parliamentary Candidate Samuel Aboagye and three military officers.
