The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) has joined the chorus of national grief, expressing profound sorrow and solidarity with the bereaved families.

In a solemn statement signed by GIBA President Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, the association honoured the memory of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, and Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology.

Both men were lauded for their unwavering dedication to public service and their collaborative spirit with the media, especially Dr. Boamah’s impactful tenure as Minister for defence

The crash, which occurred en route to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, also claimed the lives of Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator , Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate, Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah

These individuals were reportedly travelling to support a national initiative aimed at combating illegal mining and promoting sustainable development.GIBA described the incident as a “national tragedy beyond words,” emphasizing the immense loss not only to the families and government but to the entire nation. “We pray for strength, comfort, and healing for the families left behind,” the statement read, adding that the legacies of the departed leaders would continue to inspire future generations.

The association extended heartfelt condolences to the President, Parliament, the Ghana Armed Forces, and all Ghanaians during this period of collective mourning.
