The Bono Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mustapha Omar Corpson, has advised Senior High School (SHS) students to consider enrolling in the YEA employment modules following their completion of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

He said this initiative aims to equip them with fundamental knowledge in security and other service professions within the country.

In an address to the students of Dormaa Ahenkro Senior High School, as part of his official visit to the Dormaa Central Municipality, the YEA Director highlighted that students often remain at home engaged in activities that may be unproductive. Some may work as shop attendants or engage in other minor tasks that do not provide significant financial benefits. Therefore, it is crucial to prioritize the YEA employment modules, such as the Community Protection Assistant (CPA) program, which has the potential to lead to a career in the Ghana Police Service, and the Fire Service Assistant program, which can facilitate entry into the Ghana National Fire Service, among various other employment opportunities available after two years of service under the YEA modules.

He assured that the YEA has secured a 30% employment quota for all beneficiaries of the YEA, specifically in relation to the modules in which they are trained. This provides a direct pathway into the Ghana Police Service, Fire Service, and other services following their tenure with the Youth Employment Agency’s employment modules.

Mr. Omar Corpson urged the students to cultivate a business mindset and entrepreneurial ideas, emphasizing the importance of equipping the youth with such skills and knowledge to move beyond the conventional notion of pursuing white-collar and office jobs after completing their education.

He asserted that entrepreneurship represents one of the most promising avenues for young individuals to earn a genuine income through legitimate means. The NDC’s Adwumawura program has been introduced to offer financial assistance to individuals with a business-oriented mindset, aiding them in establishing their enterprises for a better future.
