The Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance Group, Ernest Boateng, and former Ghana Ambassador to China, Ambassador Edward Boateng, on Saturday led a delegation from the conglomerate to pay tribute to the eight victims of the tragic Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter crash.

The solemn ceremony took place at the Jubilee House Gardens, where wreaths and floral arrangements from institutions, organizations, and well-wishers adorned the grounds in honor of the fallen state servants. The victims lost their lives on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, while traveling to Obuasi for an official anti-illegal mining mission.

The deceased included former ministers Dr. Omane Boamah and Murtala Mohammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed; Vice Chairman of the NDC, Dr. Samuel Sarpong; former parliamentary candidate, Mr. Samuel Aboagye; Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo.

Speaking to the media, Ambassador Edward Boateng described the incident as “the most horrific” he had encountered in his career, condemning the circulation of graphic images from the crash site.

“This is a time of reflection and structured planning to continue the mission they championed against illegal mining, with the same dedication and focus,” he said.

Echoing these sentiments, Ernest Boateng called the loss “a national tragedy that goes beyond individual families” and urged Ghanaians to stand together while respecting the privacy of the bereaved.

Dr. Timothy Kakari, Managing Director of Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC), extended condolences on behalf of all staff to the Government of Ghana and the families of the victims.

Other dignitaries including the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II; Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey; and Omanhene of New Juaben, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, also offered condolences reflecting the nation’s collective grief and deep respect for the lives and service of the fallen heroes.
