Ghana will hold a State Funeral on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra to honour the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash.

In a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, the Funeral Planning Committee extended an open call for tributes, inviting the public to join in commemorating the lives lost.

“We invite all individuals, institutions, and the general public to come together in remembrance and honour the lives of those we so sadly lost,” the statement read.

Members of the public are encouraged to send messages of condolence and tributes for inclusion in the official funeral brochure. Submissions should be emailed to tributes@presidency.gov.gh no later than Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 12:00 PM GMT.

The funeral, scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM, will be attended by senior government officials, dignitaries, and citizens from across the country.

The statement described the victims’ “courage, dedication, and spirit” as an enduring inspiration to continue building a stronger, more united, and prosperous Ghana.

The August 6 helicopter crash, which claimed eight lives, has been described as one of the most devastating national tragedies in recent years, sparking an outpouring of grief and solidarity nationwide.
