Traditional leaders in Kokrobite, in the Ngleshie Amanfrom–Bortiano area, have announced measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly Homowo celebration this year.

The Mbratihene, Tse Nyo3m3 Kojo II, has imposed a strict ban on the use of firearms particularly pump-action guns during the festivities.

Speaking to Happy Kaseɛbɔ, the Public Relations Officer for the youth chief, Samuel Adusei Baduako, said the decision follows past incidents of gun violence during similar events.

“The use of guns has caused many problems in previous years. This time, Kokrobite needs peace, and the Mbratihene has banned the use of firearms with live bullets,” he stated.

To enforce the directive, the chiefs are working with the local police commander, with violators facing arrest and prosecution.

The chiefs are also urging festival-goers to dress modestly, advising young women and men to refrain from indecent dressing in keeping with cultural respect and tradition.

In addition, the Mbratihene’s office has appealed to the President to prioritize rehabilitation of Kokrobite’s roads, noting that improved infrastructure could help the area realize its potential as a major tourist destination.

With these measures in place, Kokrobite’s leaders hope for a safe, respectful, and vibrant Homowo celebration this week.
