The Government of Ghana has officially outlined plans for the state funeral of six victims who perished in the tragic helicopter crash on August 6 in Adansi Akrufuom.

The funeral, scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, will be conducted with full military honours by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

Speaking at a press briefing on, August 14, Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Dogbey detailed the structure of the ceremony, which will unfold in three distinct phases: religious recitations, the main funeral service, and the burial.

The pre-burial programme will begin at 7:30 a.m. with Bible and Qur’an readings.

The Vice President is expected to arrive at 8:50 a.m., followed by President John Dramani Mahama at 9:00 a.m., who will officially commence the state service.

The three-hour ceremony will include the reading of biographies for each of the eight victims, as well as tributes from family members, government officials, and representatives of various institutions.

Following the service, the remains of six victims will be transported to the military cemetery at Tse Addo for interment. Burial rites will be jointly administered by the Ghana Armed Forces and the respective churches of the deceased.

Two victims Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna were laid to rest on Sunday, August 10, in accordance with Islamic customs.

The six individuals to be buried on August 15 are:
– Dr. Edward Omane Boamah

– Dr. Samuel Sarpong

– Mr. Samuel Aboagye

– Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala

– Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu

– Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah

Mr. Dogbey urged members of the public to arrive early and adhere to all security protocols in place for the solemn occasion.
