Former New York Red bulls pacy striker, Dominic Oduro has revealed that he is a die-hard Asante Kotoko fan, but wants to play for Inter Allies before hanging up his boots.
Oduro spent his formative years in football with Inter Allies when they were in the second tier of Ghana football before enrolling into the Virginia Commonwealth University and eventually being drafted into the Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2006 by FC Dallas.
After starring in the MLS with top teams such as Toronto FC, Houston Dynamo, Columbus Crew and the likes, Oduro was emphatic in his statement when Football Ghana.com interviewed him on his retirement plans as he reaches his peak.
The 31-year-old said, “It’s been my dream to play outside the MLS before retiring because as a footballer, you don’t close any gate that comes to you. If you get the opportunity, you only have to analyze everything and take the better option that will suit you and your family.”
“I obviously wish to play in Europe one day, but at the end of the day you have to look at second avenues before taking a decision. But, when that opportunity arises that I’ve to play outside the MLS, I’ll take it.”
“I’ll not only favour a move to Europe because I would also like to feature in the Ghana league as well. I’ve supported Asante Kotoko my whole life and would want to play for them, but not too keen like the way I would like to play for Inter Allies because they’re the team that nurtured and gave me my first professional contract and it will be a beautiful story to end my career there,” Oduro disclosed.
The man voted as the fastest player in 2015 formed a deadly partnership with Ivorian icon, Didier Drogba in Montreal Impact’s great run in the 2015 CONCACAF Champions League as they became the first Canadian team reached the final where they lost to Club America of Mexico 5-3 on aggregate.
