The Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GARH) has expressed concern over a viral video circulating on social media regarding an accident case that was brought into its Emergency Department.

In a statement signed by Ms. Juliana Haruna, Head of Public Relations, the hospital explained that clinicians were actively attending to other emergencies when relatives and friends of the accident victim forced their way into the emergency triage.

“Their overwhelming presence disrupted the smooth delivery of care, caused unnecessary tension, and even threatened the safety of our clinicians. In the process, one of our dedicated nurses was assaulted,” the statement noted.

GARH said the incident resulted in a temporary halt in service delivery until the Ghana Police Service was called in to restore calm, after which clinicians resumed providing care to patients.

Management of the hospital strongly condemned the assault and reminded the public that any form of interference, aggression, or violence toward healthcare workers is unacceptable, as it endangers lives and disrupts the delivery of care.

“The safety and well-being of our staff and patients remain our top priority. We encourage cooperation and mutual respect at all times to ensure a safe and supportive environment for quality healthcare,” the release stated.

The hospital also cautioned against the unauthorized filming of patients and clinicians, stressing that taking videos or photographs without consent breaches privacy and hospital regulations.

GARH assured the public of its continued commitment to delivering quality and timely healthcare services and appealed for the cooperation of patients, relatives, and the public to enable clinicians to serve effectively.
