Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak has announced a review of curfew hours in the Bawku Municipality and its environs in the Upper East Region.

According to a statement issued and signed by the Minister on Monday, August 18, 2025, the new curfew will run from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am daily, following advice from the National Security Council and effected through an Executive Instrument.

Government has urged Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, and the youth in Bawku to remain calm and use non-violent means in addressing the challenges facing the area. The appeal emphasized the need for unity and restraint to foster peace and stability.

Meanwhile, a total ban has been placed on the possession and carrying of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within the Bawku Municipality and surrounding areas.

The Interior Ministry cautioned that anyone found in possession of such weapons will be arrested and prosecuted.
