The chaplain and counselor of Achimota Senior High School, Reverend Father Dr. Ernest Gyimah Agyeman, has called for sustained drug education campaigns in schools to curb rising cases of substance abuse among students.

Speaking during a Lions Club drug abuse awareness program on Thursday, August 21, Rev. Gyimah Agyeman stressed the need for continuous sensitization.

“The topic is timely because students often misuse and abuse drugs, some of them ignorantly. If we create awareness at this stage, it will save a whole generation and future leaders,” he said.

The program, which targeted Form Two and Form Three students, highlighted concerns over substances like “VIP,” reportedly used by some students to stay alert while studying.

“You see them holding it in classrooms and dormitories. It’s difficult to identify, but it’s being abused,” he noted.

Rev. Gyimah Agyeman further urged the Lions club to extend the campaign new Form One students.

“We pray they come back again. This is a very good program, and we say kudos to the sponsors,” he added.
