Former Education Minister and aspiring NPP flagbearer, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, has thrown his weight behind the party’s candidate for the Akwatia by-election.

Dr. Adutwum joined the campaign trail over the weekend, moving door-to-door through streets, homes, and even the Akyem Boadua Mosque, urging constituents to rally behind Solomon Kwame Asumadu, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate.

He emphasized that Mr. Asumadu, a native of Akyem Boadua and popularly known as a “Zongo boy,” represents the community’s hopes and identity. Dr. Adutwum reminded voters of the NPP’s track record in delivering development-oriented policies and argued that voting for the party’s candidate would bring even more progress to Akwatia.

He particularly appealed to the Muslim community to set aside party colours and support Solomon Asumadu, stressing that he is one of their own.

Meanwhile, the candidate Solomon Kwame Asumadu, also appealed to voters especially those in his hometown of Akyem Boadua to give him the mandate to represent them in parliament and spearhead development across the constituency.

The Akwatia by-election is set for Tuesday, September 2, with both candidates and party leaders making a last push to secure voter support.
