The Third National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Masawudu Osman, has allegedly been assaulted at the ongoing by-election in Akwatia.
The incident reportedly occurred at the Akwatia Main Lorry Station, where two polling centres are situated. While the exact cause of the confrontation remains unclear, the alleged attacker is said to be linked to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka.
Speaking to the media, Alhaji Osman confirmed the incident and disclosed that he has lodged a formal complaint with the Ghana Police Service, awaiting their response.
He cautioned party members against retaliation, stressing that although he and Chief Azorka both hail from Tamale and hold chieftaincy titles, it is important to uphold peace during the electoral process.
