The National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sofo Awudu Azorka, has claimed that a by-election could have been organized in the Effutu Constituency if he had encountered the Member of Parliament for the area, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, at the NDC’s Akwatia office.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Azorka expressed anger over reports that the Minority Leader had visited the NDC’s office in Akwatia, sparking tensions among party members. According to him, Afenyo-Markin had no business at the party’s office.
“I learnt Afenyo-Markin was here [at the party office]. I swear, if I had met him here, there would have been a by-election in his constituency. We were at the polling station when we heard he had come here. He’s fortunate we didn’t meet him, otherwise there would have been a by-election at Effutu,” he said.
Mr. Azorka further stressed that the ongoing Akwatia by-election is being conducted at polling stations, not at the NDC office, questioning the MP’s motive for showing up there.
He reiterated that had the encounter happened, it would have resulted in a by-election at Effutu.
