After three months of immersive learning, field visits, and diplomatic engagement, 15 media professionals from across Ghana have successfully graduated from the Ghana-China Media Fellowship 2025, the first program of its kind aimed at strengthening media capacity on Africa-China relations.

Organized by the Africa-China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA), the 12-week fellowship brought together journalists from television, radio, print, and digital media for an intensive experience that combined academic lectures, Chinese language instruction, and practical site engagements.

The program concluded on Saturday, August 30, 2025, with a certificate ceremony at ACCPA’s head office in Accra. Fellows were recognized for their participation and dedication, having completed a series of modules covering topics such as Chinese modernization, Belt and Road cooperation, peace and security, cultural diplomacy, and media narratives.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Paul Frimpong, Executive Director of ACCPA, congratulated the graduates and challenged them to become informed storytellers in shaping public understanding of Ghana-China relations. “This fellowship was more than training; it was a journey of discovery and dialogue. You now carry the responsibility to inform with insight,” he said.

Throughout the fellowship, participants had the opportunity to engage with key institutions and stakeholders, including a diplomatic session with H.E. TONG Defa, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, and an industrial visit to China State Hualong Construction Ghana Ltd, one of the country’s longest-standing Chinese enterprises.

Participants described the experience as transformational. “It has been an enlightening and game-changing experience,” remarked one fellow. Others expressed deep appreciation to ACCPA for creating a platform that bridged journalism, diplomacy, and policy.

Beyond learning, the fellowship created a strong network of journalists committed to promoting fact-based and balanced reporting on Africa-China relations.

The Ghana-China Media Fellowship 2025 has set a new benchmark for media development and international engagement. As the first cohort celebrates this milestone, ACCPA is already planning to scale the initiative and open future editions to more media professionals across the continent.
