Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, has reaffirmed her commitment to youth development and education in her constituency through two major initiatives aimed at tackling unemployment and improving educational infrastructure.

As part of her efforts to create opportunities for young people, the MP fully funded transportation for 85 youth from Amenfi Central to Sekondi-Takoradi to participate in a Work Abroad Screening Exercise.

Successful candidates will gain the opportunity to work abroad, acquire valuable skills and provide financial support for their families.

Gyan Cudjoe emphasised that this initiative forms part of her broader vision to combat unemployment and empower young people across Amenfi Central.

In a further demonstration of her commitment to development, the MP has launched the Schools Under Trees Project, an ambitious plan to eliminate makeshift classrooms in the constituency.

Through her advocacy, a cooperative non-governmental organisation (NGO) has been secured to provide modern school facilities for communities where children currently study under trees or in temporary structures.

“This project seeks to involve local communities in both planning and implementation to ensure sustainability and local ownership, “she said in an interview.

To facilitate the project, affected communities are required to provide the following information:

1. Name and location of the school or town.

2. GPS location or WhatsApp location pin.

3. Photographs showing the current state of the school.

4. Number of pupils enrolled in:

o Kindergarten

o Classes 1–6

o Junior Secondary School

5. Availability of toilet facilities and water access.

6. Brief history and population of the town.

7. Availability and proximity of building materials.

8. Land ownership documents for the school.

9. Community role in the construction of the school.

10. Level of community commitment and patriotism.

11. Formation of a School Building Committee and a dedicated WhatsApp group for project updates.

“This project represents a collective step forward in ensuring that every child in Amenfi Central has access to quality education in a conducive learning environment,” she stated.
