Presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Bryan Acheampong has urged women leaders within the party to take up a more assertive role in promoting unity and inclusiveness as the party charts its path toward 2028.

Speaking during a two-day engagement with women executives of the party last weekend, Dr. Acheampong outlined his vision for the party’s renewal, establishing that women in the party are an integral component of that vision.

“Unity and inclusion will define our journey. And women must be at the center of it,” he told the gathering.

He argued that the NPP’s strength has always rested on its grassroots structures, where women form the majority of the active workforce. From house-to-house campaigns to constituency coordination, he said women have consistently been the mobilizers and organizers that sustain the party’s momentum.

According to Dr. Acheampong, recognizing this contribution must go beyond rhetoric and translate into concrete steps to give women more space in leadership, more resources to operate effectively, and more influence in decision-making at all levels.

He warned that any rebuilding effort that sidelines women would not only weaken the party internally but also undermine its appeal to the wider electorate, particularly at a time when inclusiveness and equity are becoming national priorities.

The Abetifi MP, who has already declared his ambition to lead the NPP into the next presidential election, said the party’s renewal cannot succeed without women driving it forward. “This is not about tokenism,” he said. “It is about building a party and a country where women’s voices shape the future alongside the male voices.”

The two-day meeting was described by participants as both empowering and unifying. Women executives expressed confidence in his commitment to inclusiveness and praised the opportunity to engage directly on their concerns.
