Oblique Seville has officially stamped his name among the sprinting greats.

The 24-year-old Jamaican lit up the track in Tokyo to win gold in the men’s 100m final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, crossing the line in a blistering 9.77 seconds.

Seville edged past his compatriot Kishane Thompson, who clocked 9.82s to take silver, while Olympic and defending world champion Noah Lyles of the United States had to settle for bronze in 9.85s.

The victory crowns Seville as the new fastest man in the world, but Usain Bolt’s legendary world record of 9.58 seconds set in 2009 in Berlin remains untouched.
