Samuel Atta-Mills, Ranking Member of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), is urging swift legal action against officials of the Ministry of Health following revelations of procurement irregularities totaling GH¢1.3 million.
The infractions, detailed in the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report, include contracts awarded without competitive bidding violating Ghana’s procurement laws.
Despite clear recommendations from the Auditor-General for sanctions, ministry representatives failed to implement corrective measures.
At a PAC hearing on September 29, 2025, Atta-Mills described the conduct as “uncompetitive procurement” and called for the matter to be referred to the Attorney-General for prosecution.
He emphasized that accountability is essential to deter future violations and protect public fund.
