President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Ghana will ratify and sign the United Nations Convention on Cybercrime this October, marking a major milestone in the country’s cybersecurity efforts.
Speaking at the launch of National Cyber Security Awareness Month in Accra on Wednesday, October 1, Mahama described the move as a “historic step” in Ghana’s fight against digital threats.
“This October Ghana will take another historic step. We will ratify and sign the UN convention on Cyber Crime,” he declared.
He emphasized that the treaty will empower Ghana to better respond to cyber threats.
“This treaty equips us with tools to investigate attacks, prosecute cyber criminals and protect critical information infrastructure.”
The President reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to global cooperation in tackling cybercrime and safeguarding its digital future.
