GTA launches 'December in GH' 2025 at Jubilee House

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts officially launched the 2025 edition of the December in GH on Monday night at the banquet hall of the Jubilee House in Accra.

Since its inception in 2019, December in GH has positioned Ghana as a premier holiday destination, attracting visitors eager to explore its vibrant arts, culture, and entertainment scene. Each year, an exciting lineup of events from November to January of the following year are scheduled to give tourists an unforgettable experience.

The launch of this year’s December in GH saw a number of prominent figures in attendance including the Chief Of Staff at the Office of the President, Julius Debrah, The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts , Abla Dzifa Gomashie and government, the diplomatic corps, the creative arts industry, and the private sector.

Mr. Debrah as the keynote speaker commended the Ministry and the GTA for their consistent efforts in promoting tourism as a motor of growth, job creation, and cultural exchange. He praised the initiative’s contribution to national branding and its positive influence on small and medium enterprises within the tourism value chain.

Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie sharing insights on the annual event disclosed the ministry’s mission to build Ghana’s creative economy through the various showcases of arts and culture along the season.

⁠“December in GH is more than a celebration; it is a showcase of Ghana’s energy, culture, and global appeal. It embodies our vision of a modern tourism economy driven by creativity, inclusivity, and innovation. This year’s edition will project our nation’s unique identity and strengthen Ghana’s position as Africa’s gateway for cultural and experiential tourism.”

Similar sentiments shared by Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto highlighted the progress of December in GH and it’s profound efforts made to position Ghana as a globally recognized holiday destination.

She mentioned that the 2025 edition will build on the successes of previous years by enhancing collaboration across the creative, hospitality, and events sectors to provide world-class visitor experiences.

Mr. Rex Owusu Marfo, Head of the Black Star Experience Secretariat – Ghana’s culture and creative economy agency, emphasised the vital role of the creative community in sustaining Ghana’s tourism renaissance. He noted that the Black Star Experience platform continues to develop as the heartbeat of December in GH, connecting global audiences with authentic Ghanaian stories.

“Our mission is to curate experiences that go beyond entertainment ; to celebrate identity, creativity, and connection; this year’s calendar reflects the growing confidence of our creative sector and its ability to drive tourism-led growth through innovation, partnerships, and excellence.” Mr. Rex Owusu Marfo stated.

The Ghana Tourism Authority has put together a compendium of events listed in the the official December in GH 2025 Calendar which is sectioned into Theatre Arts, Concerts, Entertainments and Fashion, Festivals, Culinary, Business Investment, and Conference and Community Service exercises along with their scheduled dates throughout the festive season nationwide all under the supervision of the Black Star Experience.
