Former Electoral Area Coordinator and First Vice Chairman aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ahafo Region, Nana Yaw Donkor Jill, has dismissed reports claiming he has joined the United Party (UP) as its Regional First Vice Chairman.
In an interview with Happyghana.com, Nana Yaw Donkor Jill clarified that he remains a committed member of the NPP, which he joined in 2004.
He explained that over the years, he has diligently served the party and, along the line, came into contact with the founder and leader of the United Party, Alan Kyerematen.
According to him, in 2023, when Alan Kyerematen broke away from the NPP to form the Movement for Change ahead of the 2024 elections, he briefly supported his campaign in the Ahafo Region because he admired Alan’s leadership and ideology.
However, Nana Yaw Donkor said he later realized that leaving the NPP was a mistake and decided to return to the party.
He expressed disappointment that some media outlets have reported that he has been appointed as the First Vice Chairman of the United Party, describing such publications as false and misleading.
He stressed that he has no affiliation with the United Party and remains a dedicated member of the NPP, with no intention of joining any other political movement.
