Ashanti NPP Youth Organizers Warn Bryan Acheampong Against ‘False Claims’

Ashanti Regional Youth Organizers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have cautioned flagbearer aspirant Dr. Bryan Acheampong to desist from making what they describe as false claims during the party’s flagbearer campaign.

The group, led by Old Tafo Constituency Youth Organizer, Nana Kwadwo Pipim, expressed displeasure over some statements attributed to Dr. Acheampong, saying they could harm the party’s image and unity.

Addressing journalists, the group outlined several allegations against the former Minister for Food and Agriculture, including conflict of interest in the attempted acquisition of SSNIT hotels, mismanagement of the agricultural sector, and what they termed “undemocratic comments” made ahead of the 2024 general elections.

They alleged that the attempt by Dr. Acheampong to acquire majority shares in SSNIT hotels while serving as a Minister of State constituted a breach of public trust and contributed to the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

The youth organizers also accused him of poor performance in the agricultural sector, claiming that his policies led to discontent among farmers and low productivity.

They further condemned a past statement by Dr. Acheampong suggesting that the NPP would not hand over power after the 2024 polls, describing it as “reckless and irresponsible.”

The group warned that selecting Dr. Acheampong as the party’s flagbearer could lead to voter apathy and defections.

They urged the National Executive Committee (NEC), National Council, and delegates to uphold the values of accountability and integrity in choosing the next leader of the NPP.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizers declared their support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as the most suitable candidate to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
