Santasi Fire: GNFS identifies origin, cause still unknown

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Ashanti Region says it has identified the origin of the devastating fire that gutted the China City Mall at Santasi, though the exact cause is yet to be established.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the blaze started in a warehouse on the first floor and quickly spread, engulfing the entire building within an hour.

According to DO2 Peter Addai, the Public Relations Officer for the Ashanti Regional Fire Command, investigations are ongoing to determine what triggered the incident.

He added that the structural integrity of the affected building is currently being assessed, and recommendations for possible demolition are being considered.

Meanwhile, officials from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and other security agencies are on-site to evaluate the extent of damage and advise on next steps.
