The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set for a keenly contested national chairmanship election, and former National Chairman Paul Afoko’s decision to contest has been welcomed by some party stalwarts.

Albert Nuamah, Chairman of the NPP’s Atiwa East constituency, has described Afoko’s bid as timely and necessary.

According to Nuamah, Afoko’s experience and leadership skills would be invaluable to the party as it seeks to recapture power in the 2028 general elections. “We need numbers to recapture power in 2028,” Nuamah stated.

“If Paul Afoko has been reinstated into the party and has the zeal to serve the party again by vying for the same position, it is good news.”

The NPP chairmanship race has attracted several high-profile aspirants, including former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko and John Boadu.

Nuamah noted that the party’s strength lies in its ability to attract experienced and dedicated individuals, and the best candidate should emerge victorious.

He urged party faithful to put aside their differences and work towards the party’s victory in the 2028 elections. “We can’t afford to lose the 2028 elections,” he emphasized, calling for unity and support for the party’s candidates.
