The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has cautioned the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, to steer clear of land and chieftaincy disputes within the region.

According to the Asantehene, such matters fall under his traditional authority and not within the jurisdiction of the Ghana Police Service. He advised that any chief who approaches the Police Commander with issues relating to land should be directed to the Manhyia Palace for resolution.

Otumfuo further instructed that if the Commander becomes aware of any ongoing land or chieftaincy dispute, he should promptly report it to him for appropriate action.

He also charged DCOP Akoto to strengthen security operations in the region, particularly in curbing theft and other social vices that threaten peace and safety.

The advice was given when the new Commander paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace.

The outgoing Regional Police Commander, COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, expressed appreciation to His Majesty for his guidance and support during his tenure. He also formally introduced his successor, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, to the Asantehene.

Accompanying the outgoing commander were Deputy Regional Commander CP Francis Kouame Somian, Manhyia Divisional Commander Chief Supt. Frederick Hammond, and Ashanti Regional PRO DSP Godwin Ahianyo.
