Interior Ministry postpones Security Services recruitment to Monday, November 17

The Ministry of the Interior has postponed the opening date for the 2025 recruitment into the internal security services from Saturday, November 15, to Monday, November 17, 2025.

The decision follows Wednesday’s tragic stampede during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise, which resulted in multiple casualties.

Addressing the media at a press conference in Accra on Friday, November 14, the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, said the adjustment was made in consultation with the security chiefs as a gesture of solidarity and respect to the bereaved families and victims of the incident.

He explained that the Ministry had earlier advertised the recruitment exercise in the national dailies on November 5, announcing plans to take in new applicants into the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Ghana Prisons Service, including the Narcotics Control Commission.

According to the minister, application forms were initially scheduled to go on sale on November 15.

However, the ministry found it appropriate to reschedule the opening date due to the unfortunate events recorded during the GAF recruitment.

“The Ministry of Interior, in consultation with the security chiefs, has decided to postpone the start date of the application from the 15th, which is tomorrow, Saturday, to Monday, November 17, 2025, as a mark of respect to the bereaved families and those who were injured,” he stated.

The minister assured the public that all other procedures and requirements for the recruitment exercise remain unchanged and urged prospective applicants to take note of the new date.
