The family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has announced details for her final funeral rites, which will take place on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.

Speaking to the media on behalf of the family on Tuesday, November 18, Oheneba Akwasi Abayie, Otumfuo Akomforehene, disclosed that proceedings will begin at 6:00 a.m. with the arrival of the cortege at the venue.

On attire, the family indicated that all mourners are to wear black, adding that no special funeral cloth has been designated. They emphasised that the funeral is open to the general public, and all sympathisers are welcome to attend. Security personnel will be on hand to guide mourners to their seats.

The family further clarified that November 28 will mark the final funeral rites, and no additional funeral service will be held elsewhere. This, they explained, is to ensure that everyone who wishes to pay their last respects can do so at one unified event.

Nana Konadu, founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and former First Lady, passed away on October 23, 2025.

Meanwhile, the government has announced that a state funeral will be held in her honour, in recognition of her significant contribution to Ghana’s political and social development.
