The 2024/2025 cohort of Rotation Nurses and Midwives has threatened to embark on a nationwide demonstration if the Ministry of Health fails to settle their long-delayed rotation allowances by the end of November.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, November 18, the group announced plans to peacefully picket at the premises of the Ministry of Health and hit the streets to demand the payment of all outstanding allowances.

They noted that although they have diligently carried out their clinical and service duties for several months, the Ministry is yet to complete the required clearance processes or release any funds, leaving many of them in dire financial difficulty.

Their demands include the full payment of allowances owed to the 2024/2025 cohort, expedited financial clearance for their junior colleagues, and an end to the recurring practice of health professionals working for months without pay.

“Should the Ministry fail to honour this commitment by the stated deadline, we will have no option but to peacefully hit the streets and stage a nationwide demonstration to demand what is rightfully ours,” the statement stressed.

The group further expressed disappointment that, despite an assurance by the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, on October 13, 2025, that clearance had been given for more than 17,000 rotational health professionals and that allowance payments would begin in November, there has been no visible progress.

“With only 12 days left in the month, the necessary clearance processes have reportedly not been completed, leaving nurses and midwives frustrated and financially strained,” they added.

They also appealed to the media, stakeholders, parents, and the general public to rally behind them, while calling for transparency, fairness, and genuine respect for the welfare of health service personnel.
