Philip Kwame Twumasi, popularly known as Commander Obarima Twumasi of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), has issued an unreserved apology to Fulani people in Ghana and across West Africa following comments he made during an interaction with a recruit, Karim Latif.

His apology follows a statement released by the National Ambulance Service announcing an investigation into a viral video that captured the officer questioning a Fulani trainee at the NAS Training School in Kenkaasu, an incident many interpreted as demeaning to the Fulani community and other ethnic groups.

In the video, sighted by Happyghana.com, Officer Twumasi is seen publicly apologising, stressing that his remarks were not meant to belittle the Fulani.

He explained that the conversation with the recruit was intended to motivate him and to demonstrate that individuals from all backgrounds can rise to greater heights.

He insisted that the video had been misconstrued, adding that it was simply an instructor–trainee interaction aimed at encouraging others, not an attempt to disrespect Fulani people.

Commander Twumasi extended his apology to Fulani chiefs, the former Vice President and his wife, the Commanding General of NAS, and Fulani communities worldwide.

He further pledged to learn from the incident and assured the public that such a situation will not occur again.
