The United States has condemned the mass abduction of more than 300 students and teachers from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State, as well as the kidnapping of 25 schoolgirls from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State.
In a statement issued by the U.S. Department of State: Bureau of African Affairs, described the incidents as deeply troubling and called for the immediate capture and prosecution of the perpetrators.
The U.S. further urged the Nigerian government to take decisive action to ensure the safety of all citizens, particularly Christians, who remain targets of violent attacks in parts of the country.
It emphasised the need for stronger measures to protect students, schools, and religious communities.
“The Nigerian government must act decisively and do more to protect Christians and ensure Nigerians can live, learn, and practice their religion freely without fear or terror,” the statement read.
