11-member Committee to oversee Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup inaugurated

President John Mahama has inaugurated an 11-member inter-ministerial committee to oversee Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The committee will be chaired by Stan Xoese Dogbe, the Deputy Chief of Staff, with Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa serving as his deputy.

Key Members of the Committee:

Stan Xoese Dogbe – Deputy Chief of Staff (Chairman)

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Minister for Foreign Affairs (Vice Chairman)

Kofi Adams – Minister for Sports and Recreation

George Opare – Minister for Youth Development

Yusif Jajah – Deputy Minister for Tourism & Culture

Ampem Nyarkoh – Deputy Minister for Finance

Kurt Okraku – GFA President

Elizabeth Yankah – Deputy National Security Coordinator

Abedi Ayew Pele – Former Black Stars Captain

Wilhelmina Asamoah – Chief Director, Ministry of Sports & Recreation

Plus one additional member to be appointed from the private sector.

Sports Minister Kofi Adams explained that the team has been formed to ensure proper coordination between all relevant components involved in Ghana’s World Cup planning and execution.

The government has already allocated GH₵150 million towards the tournament, marking a strong start to Ghana’s preparation for the global stage.
