The 3rd edition of the highly anticipated Lakeside Marina Family Fun Ride was held at the scenic Lakeside Marina Park on the third Saturday of November, recording immense participation from cycling enthusiasts across the capital.

This event, dedicated to improving family bonding and promoting regular exercise, successfully merged spirited competition with community spirit across two key distances: a challenging 20KM race for adults and a fun 0.5KM race for young children.

The adult 20KM race saw a display of impressive endurance and speed. Doevi Paul (Race #138) dominated the course, crossing the finish line as the first fastest man with an outstanding time of 42 minutes and 21 seconds.

The battle for the remaining podium spots was equally fierce:

Justin Bright (Race #111) secured a strong second place, finishing with a time of 44 minutes and 24 seconds.

Collins Asiedu (Race #139) rounded out the top three fastest men, finishing third with a time of 49 minutes and 20 seconds.

In the highly competitive female category, Mayumi Shimura (Race #120) demonstrated exceptional stamina, dominating the field to finish as the fastest woman with a time of 66 minutes and 47 seconds.

The 0.5KM cycling race for young children proved to be a heartwarming highlight of the day. Kustin Kayden Humpapa (Race #151) claimed the top spot in the fastest child category with a fantastic time of 7 minutes and 41 seconds. He was closely followed by:

Jedidah Myles Kwofie (Race #152), who secured second place with a time of 8 minutes and 53 seconds.

Eliken Andoh (Race #153), who finished just a second later to take third place with a time of 8 minutes and 54 seconds.

Reflecting on the success and spirit of the event, Salah Kwaku Kalmoni, Executive Director of Lakeside Estates, emphasized the broader mission behind the annual fun ride.

“Seeing so many families and cycling enthusiasts, both young and old, come together to share the joy of fitness and strengthen their bonds is the true victory of this event,” said Mr. Kalmoni. “The Marina Family Fun Ride is more than just a race; it’s an annual celebration of healthy living and community spirit that we are proud to host every year.”

Following the races, the excitement continued as participants, from the fastest winners to casual riders, worked away with a myriad of fantastic prizes generously provided by the event’s numerous sponsors.

Reinforcing its position as a fun and innovating cycle event that successfully unites lovers of cycling from across the country, interested participants are urged to join the ride which takes place on the 3rd Saturday of November annually.
