President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to national security following the supply of 40 armoured vehicles to the Ghana Police Service.
The newly acquired fleet, consisting of high-grade operational armoured pickups is expected to boost patrol strength, improve rapid response capability, and enhance officer protection during high-risk operations nationwide.
Speaking during a brief ceremony at the Police Headquarters in Accra, President Mahama described security as a core pillar of Ghana’s development agenda, stating that no country can progress without safety and stability.
“The safety of our citizens and the protection of our security personnel remain a top priority. These vehicles are operational tools designed to strengthen police response in dangerous environments and ensure that our officers can perform their duties with confidence,” he said.
He commended the Police Service for recent progress in combating violent crime, including highway and bank robberies, noting that improved logistics continue to reflect in operational results.
President Mahama further announced that additional equipment, including tow trucks and more operational vehicles will soon be supplied to the Service as part of government’s broader policing support programme.
He also issued a strong warning to criminal networks, stressing that the state remains prepared to confront and neutralize threats to national peace.
“Those who choose to disturb the peace of this nation will face the full force of the law,” he cautioned.
