The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of five suspected robbers in two separate intelligence-led operations, including two suspects linked to the robbery and murder of a 28-year-old woman at Asokore Mampong.

In a statement released on Monday, December 15, 2025, the Police Command said two of the suspects were arrested in connection with the robbery and murder of Silver Ngozi, which occurred on December 6, 2025, at about 5:00 pm at Asokore Mampong.

According to the Police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects robbed the deceased, during which one of them allegedly stabbed her with a knife, leading to her death.

Following further intelligence led operations, a joint team from the Regional Police Headquarters and the Anti-Robbery Unit in Kumasi arrested the suspects on December 12, 2025, at about 9:00 pm at their hideout at Aboabo, Kumasi.

The suspects were identified as Farouk Iddris, aged 20, a motorbike mechanic and rider, and Salim Mohammed, aged 19, a motorbike mechanic and rickshaw rider.

A search conducted in the room of Farouk Iddris led to the retrieval of a machete, knives, and other offensive weapons.

The Police said both suspects admitted to committing the robbery during interrogation. Salim Mohammed, who was the pillion rider on the day of the incident, identified a zigzag-edged knife as the weapon he allegedly used to stab the deceased.

The statement further noted that an iPhone 11 Pro belonging to the deceased, which was stolen during the robbery, has been retrieved and retained for evidential purposes.

The suspects are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations and will be arraigned before court.

In a related development, the Police also arrested three other suspects in connection with a series of street robberies within the Kumasi Metropolis and surrounding areas, including Asokore Mampong, KNUST, Kenyase, Bosore, Duase, Antoa, Mayanka, and Ayeduase.

The suspects were identified as Abdul Fatawu, alias “UN,” aged 22; Philip Nyarko, alias “Kawawa,” aged 24; and Samak Hadi, alias “Toronto,” aged 21.

Items retrieved from their hideouts at Aboabo included 59 iPhones, six Android phones, four tablets, and five laptops.

Police said all three suspects have confessed to the offences in their caution statements and are currently in custody assisting with investigations. They are expected to be put before court in due course.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command appealed to members of the public who may have fallen victim to robberies within the affected areas to report to the Command to assist with ongoing investigations.

The statement reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to maintaining peace, law, and order in the Ashanti Region and encouraged the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information to help combat crime.
